A payout curve is a function that translates the value (achievement) of a KPI into a performance value, i.e. SvT = 110%, payout(110%) = 200%. It allows the flexibility to adapt (qualify, accelerate, decelerate & cap) bonuses based on specific brand and market conditions.
Most often in calculating a bonus scheme, we use the results of a payout curve applied to a KPI value and not the actual KPI value, however in some cases, the KPI value can be used directly - i.e. a value of sales in a commission from sales type bonus scheme.
